Accessibilty requirements for broadcasters

For Swedish broadcasters, there are requirements to make TV broadcasts and play services available to people with disabilities. There are several accessibility techniques that can be used to make programs available. We follow up the requirements for accessibility annually. There are also certain requirements for accessibility for the news media that apply for media support.

The scope of the accessibility requirements is decided by the Government with regard to the public service companies Sveriges Television AB (SVT) and Sveriges Utbildningsradio AB (UR) and by the Swedish Press and Broadcasting Authority with regard to other Swedish broadcasters and news media.

Regulations on accessibility

Television programmes must be made accessible to people with functional impairments to varying degrees.
