Video-on-demand

Video-on-demand (VOD)is an Internet-based streaming media service which basically is about the viewer deciding when they want to watch something.

The service is aimed at a wide audience, and the range of programmes in the service is selected and catalogued. A special section on a news website where video clips and programmes are collected or a media service with a mixed selection of series and films are examples of VOD.

The streaming service can either be free for the user (video on demand, VOD) or a paid version of the service (subscription on demand, SVOD). Globally well-known examples of these types of streaming services are Netflix and HBO Max. However, only streaming services established in and have their Headquarters in Sweden, are regulated under Swedish Law.
